The scope of this Technical Report is to establish a set of best practices guidelines for undertaking those aspects of life cycle assessment specific to packaging and distribution systems. The previous document was published as CR 13910 in English in November 2000. A German translation has been published in the loose-leaf publication "Verpackung - Normung - Umweltschutz" ("Packaging - Standardization - Environmental protection"). With respect to CR 13910:2000 the following changes have been made: a) adaption to the revised EN ISO 14040 standard series; b) updating of the "Normative references" and the corresponding adaptations in the text; c) the following terms have been added to clause 3: carbon footprint, critical review, interested party, and allocation; d) the clauses allocation, life cycle inventory analysis, life cycle impact assessment, life cycle interpretation have been updated in accordance with the EN ISO 14040 standard series; e) by adding the subclauses "General", the numbering of the clauses has been changed; f) editorial revision. This document (CEN/TR 13910:2010) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 261 "Packaging", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). The responsible European Working Group is CEN/TC 261/SC 4/WG 1/TG 1 "Packaging - LCA", the responsible German Committee is NA 115-04-01 AA "Umweltkriterien und Kennzeichnung" ("Symbols and environmental criteria").
