This Supplement 2 has been prepared to provide the user with a practical procedure for calculation of thermo-mechanical thermowell characteristics. Calculation is demonstrated by means of specific examples from practice. The examples are divided into three fields: - calculation of a single-piece thermowell type 4. - calculation of a multi-piece thermowell type 2G. In addition to these three examples another approach for calculation of the static load is presented. This last example uses the method of the permissible dynamic pressure for calculation of the permissible dynamic pressure for calculation of the permissible flow velocity for a multi-piece thermowell type 2G. Is should be noted that the fundamentals and results of this calculation can only be compared to a limited extent with the method of ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2010 (Performance Test Code) since the validity of the PTC 13.3 is limited to single-piece thermowells with international design (ASME B40.9) and therefore does not include the thermowells type 1-9 described in DIN 43772. ASME PTC 19.3 TY-2010 replaced the long-term valid PTC 19.3-1974. The responsible committee is DKE/K 961 "Elektrische Messwertaufnehmer und Messgrößenumformer" ("Electrical measurement sensors and transducers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
