DIN 1946-6 is a design and performance standard primarily directed at planners and contractors of ventilation systems. Clause 4 "Ventilation concept - Necessity of ventilating measures" and clause 5 "Ventilation concept - Selecting a ventilation system" of DIN 1946-6 is directed at other target groups, for example, window manufacturers. For this reason, these two clauses of DIN 1946-6 in this supplement have been depicted and prepared separately so a simple use is possible independent of DIN 1946-6. This Supplement 2 to DIN 1946-6 applies to the natural ventilation and fan-assisted ventilation of dwellings and similarly used groups of rooms (dwelling units). The supplement describes for a ventilation concept the determination of the necessary ventilating measures and the selection of a ventilation system with which the minimum air change rates required by the building authority regulations of the German Länder or the Energieeinsparverordnung (EnEV) (German Energy Savings Ordinance) can be ensured. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 041-02-51 AA "Lüftung von Wohnungen" ("Residential ventilation") of the Heating and Ventilation Technology Standards Committee (NHRS).
