DIN 14406-4 Beiblatt 1:2011-02

The supplement contains information for DIN 14406-4 regarding maintenance of portable fire extinguishers by experts and information for clear distinction and interrelation of maintenance of portable fire extinguishers according to the tests required by the Betriebssicherheitsverordnung (BetrSichV) (German regulations on health and safety at work). The supplement does not contain additional standardized specifications for DIN 14406-4, even if the use of the modal verbs of obligation "must" and "have to" might suggest that, as these formulations are derived from the cited legal bases. The new edition of this supplement has become necessary due to the elimination of the Druckbehälterverordnung (Ordinance on Pressure Vessels) and the introduction of the EC Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EG (implemented in Germany by the Druckgeräteverordnung (Ordinance on pressure equipment) - 14. GPSGV (Law for safety of equipment and products) and the Betriebssicherheitsverordnung (BetrSichV) (German regulations on health and safety at work)). With respect to the previous editions DIN 14406-4, Supplement 1:1986-08, and DIN 14406-4, Supplement 2:1997-09, the following significant amendments have been made during the revision: a) content of Supplement 1 and of DIN 14406-4, Supplement 2, which has been withdrawn, has been combined, completely newly assembled and has been clearly subdivided into thematic sections; b) content of DIN 14406-4, Supplement 2, which has been withdrawn in 2009-11, has been severely reduced; c) content has been adopted to the current state of legal basis, that is considering the EC Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EG (Druckgeräteverordnung 14. GPSGV zum Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz GPSG (Ordinance on pressure equipment - Law for safety of equipment and products)), of the Betriebssicherheitsverordnung (BetrSichV) (German regulations on health and safety at work) and deletion of all quotations of Landesverordnungen (federal state ordinances); d) interrelations between maintenance according to DIN 14406-4 and testing according to BetrSichV and differentiation between experts and qualified persons have been added; e) explanations for the differentiation of checking the inside according to DIN 14406-4 and internal test according to the German regulations on health and safety at work have been added; f) information about the maintenance and testing of mobile fire extinguishers, maintenance instructions and test and measurement devices have been added, g) tolerances for extinguishing agent fillings and propellant fillings as well as utilization and disposal have been revised; h) content has been editorially revised.
