The standard is a basic specification for land vehicles and systems. The standards of the VG 96922 series provide a description and the preservation of mission specific operational readiness in networked systems of the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces). They specify the technical details and properties of the major systems and the interfaces of those systems. The specification is based on the requirements of the relevant International Standards for road vehicles, for example, ISO 27145. The basis for maintenance of operational readiness of land vehicles and systems are legislative requirements according to the WWH-OBD GTR which are extended with functionality in specific areas. Historically, OEMs use model-specific diagnostic test systems, supported by proprietary business processes without any influence by the end user. Future development of land vehicles as well as retrofit kits for existing land vehicles shall meet the requirements of VG 96922. The goal of the standards is to create a uniform/common, crossfunctional structure for land vehicles and systems readiness. For this purpose, a standardized data exchange between land vehicles and external systems is indispensable. The standard VG 96922-7 contains the definition of relevant use cases and resulting requirements for land vehicles and associated infrastructure. The committee responsible for the standards of the VG 96922 series is NA 140-00-25 AA "Datenbeschreibung militärischer Einsatzbereitschaft" ("Data Description of Military Operational Readiness") of the Electrical Engineering Standards Committee (NE) at DIN.
