The presented standard is a generic specification for electrical connectors and plug-and-socket devices. This generic specification applies in combination with the detail specification for electrical connectors (COC) and plug-and-socket devices (CBC), in the following named components. This generic specification includes the general requirements and provisions. It contains information relating to unchanging technical requirements and test conditions, that is, properties and provisions that apply to the respective components as well as general procedures, matters of liability, patent law, etcetera. The detail specification specifies the specific technical requirements and tests applicable for the respective component. The committee responsible for the standard is NA 140-00-14-01 UA "Steckverbinder und Steckvorrichtungen" ("Electrical connectors and plug-and-socket devices") of the Electrical Engineering Standards Committee (NE) at DIN.
