Overview

This standard is applicable to anchor chain cables made of non-magnetizable austenitic steel used on board of vessels. Non-magnetizable anchor chain cables are designed as studless anchor chain cables in order to avoid potential confusion with stud link anchor chain cables of Grade GL-K3 or GL-K4. With respect to edition VG 84511:2007-09, the test force has been increased and the stretching force has also been incorporated. A compilation of the mechanical properties, such as test force, stretching force and breaking force as well as the assignment to the corresponding nominal size has been made. In Annex A (informative), the calculation bases for the test force, stretching force and breaking force are given in detail, together with calculation formulas and taking into account the material properties (for example, 0,2 % elongation limit, elongation limit).
