Fire alarm in case of fire serves for target-oriented and better structured evacuation of the affected areas. This standard specifies requirements for the design, planning, installation, operation and maintenance of alarm systems emitting an acoustical fire alarm which is triggered by a fire alarm system. It also contains specifications for emission of instructions for protection of persons in and on buildings, taking into account building regulatory and fire-specific requirements. This standard is not applicable for the alarming using sound signalling devices and voice signal devices in accordance with DIN EN 543. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 713.1 "Gefahrenmelde- und Überwachungsanlagen" ("Alarm and surveillance systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
