Overview

This standard is applicable to the planning, installation, extension, modification and operation of fire detection and fire alarm systems together with DIN VDE 0833-1 (VDE 0833-1) and DIN 14675. It provides specifications for fire detection and fire alarm systems for the protection of life and property in buildings. The work of CEN/TC 72 may result in European Standards for the scope of this standard or parts thereof. After its entry into force, the content of this standard will be reviewed and, if necessary, amended or withdrawn. This standard does not contain any specifications for the interaction of fire detection systems with other systems that do not fulfill fire protection functions. In any case, the intended interaction of all parts of a fire alarm system with other systems - insofar as this requires the unrestricted function of the fire alarm system - shall be ensured. Hazard warning systems in accordance with DIN VDE V 0826-1 (VDE V 0826-1), as well as networked or non-networked smoke alarms in accordance with DIN EN 14604, are not fire alarm systems within the meaning of this standard. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 713.1 "Gefahrenmelde- und Überwachungsanlagen" ("Alarm and surveillance systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
