The special requirements of this part of DIN VDE 0100 (VDE 0100) are to be used for AC and DC installations of mobile or transportable units. For the purposes of this standard, "unit" refers to a vehicle and/or mobile or transportable structure in which all parts or only some parts of an electric installation are contained. Units are either mobile (with wheels), for example, self-propelled or pulled, or transportable, for example, containers or cabins on a base frame. Examples are units for use in the field of radio and television, medical services, advertising, fire fighting, special information technology, disaster relief, catering services and the like. The requirements in this part shall also be applied where two or more units are interconnected to form one single electrical installation. With respect to DIN VDE 0100-717 (VDE 0100-717):2005-06 and DIN VDE 0845-1 (VDE 0845-1):1987-10, clause 4.6, the following changes have been made: a) the Scope has become more detailed; b) the content of clause 717.41 has been aligned with DIN VDE 0100-410 (VDE 0100-410):2007-06; c) clauses about protection by automatic switch-off of power supply and additional protection have been added; d) all figures have been revised. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 221.2 "Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag" ("Protection against electric shock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
