This standard includes requirements for the safety of low-voltage electrical installations in the case of: - a fault between the high-voltage system and the earth in transformer stations supplying low-voltage electrical installations, - an interruption in the neutral conductor in the low-voltage system; - a short-circuit between a line conductor and the neutral conductor, - accidental earthing of an active conductor in the low-voltage IT system. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN VDE 0100-442 (VDE 0100-442):1997-11: a) for the relevant stress and fault voltages for different systems according to the type of their earth connection, the multitude of figures has been replaced by one basic figure in which all earthing configurations have been compiled. The formulae in the individual figures have also been compiled in a table and related to the basic figure; b) the voltage curve for the highest permanent fault voltage has been deleted. The level of the fault voltage is taken into consideration in the new version of this standard in conjunction with a global earthing system in accordance with DIN EN 50522 (VDE 0101-2):2011-11. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 221.1 "Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag" ("Protection against electric shock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN VDE 0100-442:1997-11; VDE 0100-442:1997-11 .
