ISO 9735 specifies the application rules for the structuring of data in the interchange of electronic messages in an open environment. These syntax rules for Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT) were for the first time agreed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) in 1988. They are part of the United Nations Trade Data Interchange Directory (UNTDID). Whereas Parts 1 to 9 of ISO 9735 specify basic rules for batch and interactive messages, for service messages and for safety aspects, ISO 9735-10 contains syntax service directories for all parts of the standard series. With respect to the edition published in 2004 this new edition of DIN ISO 9735-10 has been modified as follows: a) Annex A has been revised to implement all syntax code releases since publication of the first edition; b) the representation of data element 0536 "Certificate reference" has been amended from "an..35" to "an..70"; c) a Bibliography has been added including all ISO and ISO/IEC Standards referred to in the standard. This standard contains the German translation of ISO 9735-10:2014 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 154 "Processes, data elements and documents in commerce, industry and administration" with the collaboration of German experts. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 043-03-03 AA "Elektronisches Geschäftswesen" ("Electronic Business") at the DIN Standards Committee Information Technology and selected IT Applications (NIA).
