The specifications contained in DIN ISO 5610-1 regarding style and correlation of dimensions apply to tool holders with rectangular shank standardized in DIN ISO 5610-2 to DIN ISO 5610-15 which are designed for indexable inserts made of hard metal, cutting ceramics or other cutting materials and are used for turning operations. The specifications for tool holders with rectangular shank are in accordance with International Standard ISO 5610:2014. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 121-01-12 AA "Dreh- und Bohrwerkzeuge mit Wendeschneidplatten aus harten Schneidstoffen" ("Turning- and drilling tools with indexable inserts made of hard cutting materials") of DIN Standards Committee Tools and Clamping Devices (FWS).
