DIN ISO 362-1:2017-10

This standard specifies a method of accuracy class 2 for measuring the noise emitted by road vehicles of categories M and N (cars, buses, trucks) under typical urban traffic conditions. The specifications are intended to reproduce the level of noise generated by the principal noise sources during normal driving in urban traffic. The procedure defined here provides a measure of the driving noise level under defined and repeatable conditions. The specifications have been made in accordance with the necessary subdivision by vehicle class. The two operating conditions of acceleration at full throttle and constant speed allow for a simple procedure. The summary of the results proved to be equivalent to the partial throttle and partial load conditions in everyday use. The test environment required for this procedure can be achieved in large open areas. In addition, instructions for simulated pass-by measurements in a closed room are given. This standard differs from DIN ISO 362-1:2009-07 as follows: a) additional clarifications, additional equivalent test modes for heavy commercial vehicles and provisions for addressing hybrid propulsion systems for M1 and N1 category vehicles have been included. b) Annexes E and F containing further flowcharts have been included. This German standard is based on International Standard ISO 362-1:2015 in the corrected version of September 15, 2015, because ISO had issued a corrected version for the original edition, which appeared on January 15, 2015, but was flawed. It has been prepared by Working Group WG 42 "Measurement of noise emission (external) from road vehicles" with German participation. WG 42 is a Joint Working Group of Technical Committees ISO/TC 22 "Road vehicles" and ISO/TC 43/SC 1 "Noise". Working Committee NA 001-01-05 AA "Geräuschemissionsmessungen an Fahrzeugen einschließlich Messungen im Fahrgastraum und am Arbeitsplatz" ("Measurement of sound exposition on road vehicles, including measurements inside the passenger compartment and at the workplace") at DIN/VDI Standards Committee Acoustics, Noise Control and Vibration Engineering (NALS) is responsible for the German collaboration.
