The discussion of the most important terms and standard conditions for the mechanical smoking of cigarettes was included in the work programme of the Technical Committee ISO/TC 126 "Tobacco and tobacco products" (secretariat: Germany) at the founding meeting of the Technical Committee ISO/TC 126 in Berlin in 1968. After the revision of the fourth edition, the fifth edition of ISO 3308 was published in 2012. The DIN Working Committee "Tobacco and tobacco products" of the DIN Standards Committee Food and Agricultural Products (NAL) decided to adapt DIN ISO 3308:2000 to the fifth edition of ISO 3308, published in 2012. The Working Committee made its decision in particular from the point of view of a necessary harmonization of the international and national standards in the field of smoke analysis. This document defines smoking parameters and specifies the standard conditions to be provided for the routine analytical machine smoking of cigarettes. Furthermore, the requirements for a routine analytical smoking machine complying with the standard conditions are specified.
This document replaces DIN ISO 3308:2000-12 .
