The technically revised new version of the International Standard ISO 3089 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 39 "Machine tools", Subcommittee SC 8 "Work holding spindles and chucks". Germany was involved in the preparation of this standard through Working Committee NA 121-02-07 AA "Drehmaschinenspannzeuge und Zubehör" ("Lathe chucks and accessories") of the Tools and Clamping Devices Standards Committee (FWS). DIN ISO 3089 specifies, with reference to ISO 230-1, the test conditions and corresponding tolerances for self-centring, manually-operated chucks for machine tools with more than two jaws. The relatively large stroke of the so-called "one-piece hard jaws" allows quick adaptation to the most varied sizes of workpieces without dismounting. The standard deals only with the inspections of rotational accuracy of the chuck, the straightening and the centring of workpieces. It is not applicable to other dynamic quantities, such as measurement of counterbalancing or measurement of gripping powers and partially replaces the test methods from DIN 6386-1:1977-05.
This document replaces DIN 6386-1:1977-05 .
