The standard DIN ISO 11900-1 applies for type A (rectangular) and type B (square), the standard DIN ISO 11900-2 for type C and type D.
Both aforementioned standards specify the dimensions and tolerances of ball-lock punch retainers for light duty and of their backing plates.
Both standards concern primarily the retention of ball-lock punches, in accordance with ISO 10071-1, when punching holes in steel sheets. Furthermore, these standards provide information on materials and hardness requirements with regard to the respective Rockwell hardness. An example is then given for each designation of ball-lock punch retainer in accordance with the respective part of this standard. These Technical Standards belong to the three-part DIN ISO 11900 standard series on ball-lock punch retainers from the special field tools for pressing and are the unmodified adoptions of the International Standards ISO 11900-1:2007 and ISO 11900-2:2008, respectively. The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 121-03-02 AA "Werkzeuge der Stanztechnik" ("Tools for pressing") at the Tools and Clamping Devices Standards Committee (FWS) at DIN.
