Overview

The purpose of this document is to show the application of procedures for the calculation of mechanical and thermal effects due to short circuits as presented in DIN EN 60865-1 (VDE 0103). Thus this document is an addition to DIN EN 60865-1 (VDE 0103). It does not, however, change the basis for standardized procedures given in that standard. The examples of the previous edition have been adapted to the new calculation rules. New examples have been included. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 121.2 "Mechanische und thermische Kurzschlussfestigkeit" ("Mechanical and thermal short-circuit strength") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
