This amendment is applicable in connection with the existing standard for Class III centrifugal pumps. Class III describes normal technical requirements for pumps regarding how they, for example, can be applied for general water applications (for example, irrigation, water transport, etcetera.). The focus of this standard is exclusively applications with clean water. Supplement A1 was necessary as the tests performed as a result of application of this standard shall now be carried out in accordance with ISO 9906. This amendment includes the German version of Amendment prA1:2011 to EN ISO 9908:1997, which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 115 "Pumps" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 115 "Pumps" at the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). This standard includes design features concerned with installation, maintenance and safety of such pumps including baseplate, coupling and auxiliary piping. Where the application of this standard has been called for a) and requires a specific design feature, alternative designs can be offered as long as they meet the intent of this International Standard and provided that the alternative is described in detail. b) pumps not complying with all requirements of this International Standard may also be offered for consideration, provided that all deviations are stated. The national interests during the preparation are represented by Committee NA 060-11-01 AA "Kreiselpumpen" ("Centrifugal pumps") of Technical Section "Pumps" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the manufacturers and users of pumps, and of the employers' liability insurance associations are involved in the preparation.
