Overview

The standard specifies requirements for mounted ophthalmic full or reduced aperture trial case lenses which are used in combination with trial frames to determine the refractive error of the eye. The standard primarily addresses the manufacturers of such trial case lenses and of the corresponding trial frames. The standard DIN EN ISO 9801 has been prepared by Working Committee NA 027-01-08 AA "Augenoptik" ("Ophthalmic optics"), Working Group "Ophtalmische Instrumente" ("Ophthalmic instruments"), of the Optics and Precision Mechanics Standards Committee (NAFuO). With respect to DIN EN ISO 9801:1999-07 the (partially dated) normative references and the bibliography have been updated. Furthermore a second, smaller outer diameter (28 mm) has been included for mounted lenses. Moreover, merely editorial changes and corrigenda, respectively, have been made.
