This standard specifies a measuring system and associated terms and definitions for spectacle frames. In the course of the current revision, a definition and associated explanations have been added for the term "inclination angle". It is pointed out that the terms and definitions given in DIN EN ISO 8624 are limited to the subject field of measuring systems for spectacle frames. A comprehensive vocabulary for spectacle frames and their individual component parts can be found in DIN EN ISO 7998. A comprehensive vocabulary for spectacle lenses including their inclusion in spectacle frames can be found in DIN EN ISO 13666. And lastly, the vocabulary regarding sunglasses can be found in DIN EN ISO 4007. The international documents underlying this standard, ISO 8624:2001 and ISO 8624:2011/Amd.1:2015 have been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 7 "Ophthalmic optics and instruments" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). On the national level, the responsible body is Working Committee NA 027-01-08 AA "Augenoptik" ("Ophthalmic optics"), Working Group "Brillenfassungen" ("Spectacle frames ") of the DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO).
