This International Standard specifies a method for determining the ability of metallic tubes of circular cross-section to undergo plastic deformation during flange formation. This International Standard is intended for tubes having an outside diameter no greater than 150 mm and a wall thickness no greater than 10 mm, although the range of diameters or wall thickness for which this International Standard is applicable can be more exactly specified in the relevant product standard. This document (EN ISO 8494:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164 "Mechanical testing of metals", Subcommittee SC 2 "Ductility testing" (secretariat: JISC, Japan) in collaboration with Technical Committee ECISS/TC 110 "Steel tubes, and iron and steel fittings" (secretariat: UNI, Italy) in accordance with the agreement on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement). Regarding the German collaboration, Working Committee NA 062-01-53 AA "Rohrprüfung für Metalle" ("Mechanical testing of metallic tubes") of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) is responsible.
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 8494:2004-10 .
