This document specifies the performance specifications and tolerance limits for instruments designed to measure vibration values, for the purpose of assessing human response to vibration. It includes requirements for pattern evaluation, or validation, periodic verification and in situ checks, and the specification of vibration calibrators for in situ checks. Vibration instruments specified in this document can be single instruments, combinations of instrumentation or computer-based acquisition and analysis systems. Vibration instruments specified in this document are intended to measure vibration for one or more applications, such as the following: - hand-transmitted vibration; - whole-body vibration; - low-frequency whole-body vibration in the frequency range from 0,1 Hz to 0,5 Hz. Vibration instruments can be designed for measurement according to one or more of the frequency weightings defined within each of these applications. Three levels of performance testing are defined in this document: pattern evaluation or validation, periodic verification, in situ checks. The verification procedure now specified in this document is practical and is designed to determine, at a reasonable cost to the calibration laboratory and at low cost to the end user, whether a vibration meter is suitably calibrated for its intended applications and is fit for purpose. The standard differs from DIN EN ISO 8041:2006-06 as follows: a) standard number and title changed; b) introduction supplemented with explanations of the reasons for this revision; c) validation for individual devices added; d) revision and simplification of the verification; e) addition of Annex I, which provides examples of the estimation of the device measurement uncertainty; f) correction of errors in equations, numbers and figures. This standard includes the German version of the European Standard EN ISO 8041-1, which has been prepared in Working Group WG 33 of ISO/TC 108 "Mechanical vibration, shock and condition monitoring" under German project management and coordinated in parallel in CEN/TC 231 "Mechanical vibration and shock". The German collaboration took place via Working Committee NA 001-03-02 AA (NALS/VDI C 2) "Schwingungsmesstechnik" ("Vibration measuring techniques") of DIN/VDI Standards Committee Acoustics, Noise Control and Vibration Engineering (NALS).
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 8041 Berichtigung 1:2008-11 , DIN EN ISO 8041:2006-06 .
