DIN EN ISO 80079-36:2016-12

This standard specifies the basic requirements for the design, construction, testing and marking of non-electrical equipment and Ex components intended for explosive atmospheres. This standard is also applicable to the design, construction, testing and marking of components, protective systems, equipment and assemblies of these products that have their own potential ignition sources and are intended for explosive atmospheres. The standard does not specify requirements for safety, except those directly related to the risk of explosion. This standard supplements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0, as shown in Table 1. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement of IEC 60079-0, as far as applicable for non-electrical equipment, the requirement of this standard takes precedence. This standard serves as the basis for placing non-electrical equipment on the market under Directive 2014/34/EU for explosive atmospheres. This is intended to establish a uniform level of safety. Possible users of this standard are testing institutes, certification bodies and manufacturers. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association and supports essential requirements of EU Directives. This standard has been prepared by IEC/TC 31/SC 31M "Non-electrical equipment and protective systems for explosive atmospheres" in cooperation with Technical Committee CEN/TC 305 "Potentially explosive atmospheres - Explosion prevention and protection", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 095-02-02 AA "Betriebsmittel zur Verwendung in explosionsfähigen Atmosphären" ("Equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres") at Standards Committee Safety Design Principles (NASG) at DIN. In future this standard is to replace DIN EN 13463-1 published by CEN/TC 305.
