This standard provides a list of basic anthropometric measurements which can be used as a basis for comparison of population groups. The anthropometric measurements listed in this document are intended to serve as a guide for ergonomists who are required to define population groups and apply their knowledge to the geometric design of the places where people work and live. The International Standard ISO 7250-1:2008 has been prepared by International Working Group ISO/TC 159/SC 3/WG 1 "Anthropometry" and has been adopted as EN ISO 7250-1:2010 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 122 "Ergonomics". On the International level ISO/TR 7250-2 "Basic human body measurements for technological design - Part 2: Statistical summaries of body measurements from individual ISO populations" and ISO 7250-3 "Basic human body measurements for technological design - Part 3: Worldwide and regional design values for use in ISO equipment standards" are being prepared. The responsible German Mirror Committee is Committee NA 023-00-03 GA "Gemeinschaftsarbeitsausschuss NAErg/NAM: Anthropometrie und Biomechanik" ("Joint Working Committee NAErg/NAM: Anthropometry and biomechanics") of the Ergonomics Standards Committee (NAErg).
