The text of ISO 7236:2014 has been prepared by ISO/TC 8/SC 7 "Ships and Marine Technology - Inland navigation vessels" of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 7236:2016 by European Technical Committee CEN/TC 15 "Inland navigation vessels". EN ISO 7236 is intended to replace EN 929:1994 "Fahrzeuge der Binnenschifffahrt - Schubverbände -Masthalterungen für losnehmbare Signalmaste" ("Inland navigation vessels - push-tows - mounting attachments for demountable signal masts". ISO 7236 applies to mounting attachments for demountable masts with an integral mast lower part for the placing of lights on push barges. Since push barges do not generally have their own masts fitted with the lights required for push-tows, the masts are carried on the push vessel and fitted to the barges when the vessels are connected. Therefore, the mounting attachments are to be of a uniform type, have the same dimensions, and fit the lower part of the mast so that work can be carried out quickly, easily, and safely even in bad visibility conditions and in each weather situation. In addition, the mounting attachments ensure that the masts, and therefore the push-tow light, are correctly seated which is of fundamental importance for safety in shipping traffic. The responsible Working Committee at DIN is NA 132-07-01 AA "FA Binnenschifffahrt, Wasserfahrzeuge, Hafenanlagen (BWH) und NA 132-07 FB" ("Inland navigation, inland vessels, port facilities and Steering Committee of Section Inland Navigation Vessels") of DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT).
This document replaces DIN EN 929:1994-02 .
