This standard contains terms and definitions relating to cereals. The terms are given under the following subheadings: 1) General terms; 2) Terms relating to physiology; 3) Terms relating to morphology; 4) Terms relating to technology of cereals; 5) Terms relating to cereal products; 6) Terms relating to test and sampling methods. These terms serve for understanding and are applicable in all industrial sectors. The document therefore contributes significantly to the standardization of terms. International Standard ISO 5527 has been prepared by ISO/TC 34/SC 4 "Cereals and pulses" (secretariat: SAC, China). On the European level, Technical Committee CEN/TC 338 "Cereals and cereal products" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) is responsible. On the national level the committee responsible for this standard is NA 057-05-06 AA "Getreide und Getreideerzeugnisse" ("Cereals and cereal products") at DIN.
