Overview

This document has been prepared to extend the methods available for the determination of flammability by oxygen index (OI) (see ISO 4589-2) to typical elevated temperatures to which a plastic material can be exposed in a service situation. It also provides a method for determining the temperature at which combustion of a small bar of material is just supported in air under certain test conditions; the resulting temperature is termed the flammability temperature. Working Committee NA 054-01-05 AA "Brandverhalten" ("Burning behaviour") at DIN Standards Committee Plastics (FNK) is responsible for this document.
