This International Standard has been developed in response to worldwide demand with the aim of ensuring that bicycles manufactured to it are as safe as practically possible. The tests have been designed to ensure the strength and durability of both the individual parts and the bicycle as a whole, setting high quality requirements throughout and demanding that safety considerations be taken into account from the design stage. The scope is limited to safety considerations and explicitly avoids standardization of components. If the bicycle is to be used on public roads, it is subject to national regulations. This part of ISO 4210 specifies the test methods for frames and forks according to ISO 4210-2. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 112-06-01 AA "Fahrräder für allgemeine und sportliche Benutzung" ("Cycles for common and athletic use") at the Standards Committee Sports Equipment (NASport) at DIN.
