Overview

This International Standard lays down the principles to be adopted for designating essential oils in German, English and French, for example for the labelling and/or the marking. This European Standard includes the International Standard ISO 3218:2014 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 54 "Essential oils" (secretariat: AENOR, Spain). The collaboration of DIN for the field of responsibility of ISO/TC 54 and at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for the field of responsibility of CEN/SS C01 (secretariat: CCMC) was performed through the national mirror committee, NA 057 BR-02 SO "Sonderausschuss ISO/TC 54 "Ätherische Öle" ("Special committee ISO/TC 54 "Essential oils") at DIN Standards Committee Food and Agricultural Products (NAL). The present document expands ISO 3218:1976, applicable for derivations of English and French designations of essential oils, by the German principles of the nomenclature for essential oils.
