This International Standard has been prepared in response to the rapidly increasing need to ensure and to support the efficient and effective use of energy. The standard provides: - a consistent method of measuring actual energy usage of an installed lift, escalator and moving walk. This allows "upon request" the verification of the energy performance; - a simple method to periodically verify that energy usage of an installed unit has not changed. This is in support of regulatory periodic energy verification requirements; - general tools for estimation of energy usage of lifts, escalators and moving walks. As a result the building designer is provided with a simple tool. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 25745-1:2012 which has been prepared by ISO/TC 178 "Lifts, escalators and moving walks" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 10 "Lifts, escalators and moving walks" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committees NA 060-33-01 AA "Aufzüge" ("Lifts") and NA NA 060-33-02 AA "Fahrtreppen und Fahrsteige" ("Escalators and passenger conveyors") of Technical Section Aufzüge und Fahrtreppen (Lifts and Escalators) of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of lifts, escalators and moving walks, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations were involved in the preparation.
