This standard specifies the characteristics of plain and decorative linoleum, supplied as either tiles or rolls. To encourage the consumer to make an informed choice, this document includes a classification system based on the intensity of use, which shows where resilient floors coverings provide satisfactory service. The term "linoleum" is frequently incorrectly applied to a range of floor coverings, often to those based on poly(vinyl chloride) or rubber. Such materials are not included in this document. The International Standard ISO 24011:2009 has been prepared by ISO/TC 219 "Floor coverings" (secretariat: KATS, Korea). The committee responsible for the European Standard is CEN/TC 134 "Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). On the national level, the committee responsible for this standard is Working Committee NA 054-04-05 AA "Bodenbeläge" ("Floor coverings") of FNK.
This document replaces DIN EN 548:2011-05 .
