The product standard on rubber hoses for compressed air specifies requirements for the elastomeric compounds and the textile-reinforced hoses used. A distinction is made between three types, three classes and two categories of rubber hoses with a maximum working pressure of up to 25 bars and over an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +70 °C, depending on the type and category. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 45 "Rubber and rubber products", SC 1 "Hoses" (secretariat: DSM, Malaysia) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 2398:2008 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 218 "Rubber and plastic hoses and hose assemblies", the secretariat of which is held by BSI. The responsible national Standards Committee is NA 045-02-12 AA "Schläuche" ("Hoses") of Rubber Technology Standards Committee (FAKAU).
