The International Standard ISO 2320 on which the standard is based specifies the functional properties for prevailing torque steel nuts when tested at an ambient temperature range of +10 °C to +35 °C. It includes an individual test to determine the clamping properties (functional properties) and/or the torque/clamping force properties. The standard applies to prevailing torque all metal type nuts in the temperature range from -50 °C to +150 °C and prevailing torque non-metallic insert type nuts in the temperature range from -50 °C to +120 °C with triangular ISO thread in accordance with ISO 68-1, - with diameter/pitch combination in accordance with ISO 261 and ISO 262, with coarse pitch thread M5 to M39 or with fine pitch thread M8 × 1 to M39 × 3, with thread tolerances in accordance with ISO 965-2, and with mechanical properties in accordance with ISO 898-2. The International/European Standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 2 "Fasteners", Subcommittee SC 12 "Fasteners with metric internal thread" (both secretariats: DIN) in collaboration with CEN/TC 185 "Fasteners" (secretariat: DIN). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 067-00-03 AA "Verbindungselemente mit metrischem Innengewinde" ("Fasteners with metric internal thread") at DIN Standards Committee Fasteners (FMV).
