This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC which apply to machines that are first placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market, in order to facilitate proof of compliance with these requirements. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized" standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This International Standard specifies safety requirements, and measures for their verification, for the design and construction of portable, hand-held, internal combustion engine-driven, cut-off machines, intended to be used by a single operator in the cutting of construction materials, such as asphalt, concrete, stone and metal. It is applicable only to those machines designed purposely for use with a rotating, bonded-abrasive and/or super-abrasive (diamond) cut-off wheel having a maximum outer diameter of 430 mm, centre-mounted on, and driven by, a spindle shaft, where the top of the wheel rotates away from the operator. This International Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events significant to these machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. This International Standard specifies methods for the elimination or reduction of hazards arising from their use, as well as the type of information on safe working practices to be provided with the machines. Cut-off wheel specifications are not considered in this International Standard; for such specifications, see, for example, ISO 603-7, ISO 13942 and ISO 22917. This International Standard is not applicable to machines manufactured before the date of the publication of this standard. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 19432:2012 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 195 "Building construction machinery and equipment" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety" at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 19432:2010-01 as follows: a) the Foreword has been supplemented; b) clause 1 "Scope" has been modified; c) clause 2 "Normative references" has been updated; d) clause 3 "Terms and definitions" has been revised and new definitions have been included; e) clause 4 "Safety requirements and verification" and clause 5 "Information for use" have been revised; f) Annexes on the strength test of cut-off wheel guard, noise test code - Engineering method (grade 2 of accuracy), measurement of vibration values at the handles, cut-off machine positions, summary of results from round-robin tests from 2007 and 2008 on one cut-off machine and the list of significant hazards have been modified; g) the figures have been revised; h) inclusion of an informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC; i) the Bibliography has been updated. The national interests during the preparation are represented by Committee NA 060-13-36 AA "Handgehaltende Maschinen und Anlagen" ("Hand-held tools and machinery") at Technical Section "Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen" ("Construction equipment and building material machines") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of hand-held machines and machinery, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of the standard.
