DIN EN ISO 19054 specifies requirements for rail systems and their components that are needed to attach medical devices close to patients. Rail systems are used in healthcare facilities, for example on various medical devices such as medical supply units, ventilators and anesthesia workstations. They are also required for ambulances and other means of transportation. The new edition of the standard includes Amendment 1, issued separately by CEN. This change specifies the surface hardness of the rails. Further changes result from editorial adjustments. The standard and the Amendment have been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 121 "Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment" (secretariat: ANSI, USA) in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 215 "Respiratory and anaesthetic equipment" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom) with the participation of German experts. The responsible national standardization committee is Working Committee NA 053-03-06 AA "Zentrale Gasversorgungsanlagen" ("Central gas supply systems") at DIN Standards Committee Rescue Services and Hospital (NARK).
