DIN EN ISO 1874-2:2013-03

This part of DIN EN ISO 1874 specifies the methods of preparation of test specimens and the test methods to be used in determining the properties of polyamide moulding and extrusion materials. Requirements for handling test material and for conditioning both the test material before moulding and the specimens before testing are also given. Procedures and conditions for the preparation of test specimens and procedures for measuring properties of the materials from which these specimens are made are given. Properties and test methods that are suitable and necessary to characterize polyamide moulding and extrusion materials are listed. This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 1874-2:2007-04 and DIN EN ISO 1874-2/A1:2011-02 as follows: a) the standard has been editorially revised; b) normative references have been updated; c) the modification of footnote b in Table 1 has been deleted; d) clause 5 has been revised with regard to the relative humidity value: (23 ± 2) °C and (50 ± 10) % instead of (23 ± 2) °C and (50 ± 5) % for tests to be carried out in the standard atmosphere; e) Table 1, footnote b: deletion of PA6T/66, PA6T/XT, PA6T/6I, PA6I/6T and PA6T/6I/66 as regards the injection velocity of (200 ± 100) mm/s; f) Table 2, "Melting temperature", "Test conditions and supplementary instructions": "10 °C/min" has been changed to read "10 °C/min or 20 °C/min"; g) Table 3, "Melt volume-flow rate", "Test conditions and supplementary instructions" has been supplemented as follows: Moisture content ≤ 0,02 %, Test temperature (°C): 225 - 250 - 275 - 300, Load (kg): 1,2 - 2,16 - 5 - 10 - 21,6; h) Table 3: footnote b has been revised to include a list of drying conditions and information on sample storage. The International Standard ISO 1874-2:2012 has been prepared by ISO/TC 61/SC 9 "Thermoplastic materials" (secretariat: KATS, Korea).
