This document contains the rules for profile and position tolerancing of integral and derived geometric elements (lines and surfaces). DIN EN ISO 1660 is a standard for geometric product specification (GPS) and is to be regarded as a general GPS standard (see ISO/TR 14638). It affects chain links 1, 2 and 3 of the chain of standards in the form of reference-independent and reference-dependent lines and surfaces. This document has been prepared by ISO/TC 213/WG 18 "Geometrical tolerancing" in collaboration with CEN/TC 290 "Dimensional and geometrical product specification and verification" (France), the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). On the national level the responsible committee is Working Committee NA 152-03-02 AA "CEN/ISO Geometrische Produktspezifikation und Prüfung" ("CEN/ISO Geometrical product specifications and verification") at DIN Standards Committee Technical Fundamentals (NATG).
This document replaces DIN ISO 1660:1988-07 .
