Overview

The analysis described in the document, are used for the detection of extractable dyestuffs in textile products. The extraction is performed for all kind of fibres and types of dyestuffs using pyridine/water (1:1). A coloured test specimen is selected from the textile article and extracted with pyridine/water at 100 °C. The extract is analysed by liquid chromatography/diode array detection (LC/DAD) and/or by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 "Textiles and textile products" the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom), in collaboration with Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles". The responsible German body is Working Committee NA 062-05-12 AA "Textilchemischer Prüfverfahren und Fasertrennung" ("Testing methods for separation and chemistry of textile fibres") at DIN Standards Committee for Materials Testing (NMP).
