This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the "Machinery Directive", Directive 2006/42/EC, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of that directive. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized" standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This standard specifies requirements and the means for their verification for the design and performance of sprayers for bush and tree crops and similar crops, with regard to minimizing the potential risk of environmental contamination during use. It is intended to be used with ISO 16119-1:2013, which gives general requirements common to all the sprayer types covered by ISO 16119. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 16119-3:2013 and has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 23 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following major changes have been introduced to DIN EN ISO 12761-3:2002-01: a) extension of the scope; b) updating of the normative references; c) addition of a definition; d) addition of a new clause "List of significant hazards"; e) revision of requirements on control of spray drift and on cleaning; f) addition of a clause "Verification"; g) completion of clause "Instruction handbook"; h) deletion of Annex A "Test method for cleaning plant protection product cans", and deletion of Annex B "Example of device for cleaning of plant protection product cans" and addition of a reference to ISO 21278-1; i) addition of Annex ZA. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was Working Committee NA 060-16-02 AA "Bodenbearbeitung, Saat, Pflanzenpflege und Pflanzenschutz" ("Soil cultivation, seeds, plant care and plant protection") of Section Landtechnik (Agricultural engineering) of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Stakeholders were involved in the development of the standard.
This document replaces DIN EN 12761-3:2002-01 .
