The European standards replace the March 2004 editions. The most significant change is the inclusion of a further material type (PB-R). It specifies requirements and test methods for piping components made of PB-H and PP-R, their connections to each other and to piping components made of other plastics or other materials for use in piping systems used in hot and cold water installations inside buildings for the transportation of drinking or service water (domestic installations) and for heating systems. Part 1 contains general specifications such as definitions of terms, application classes and corresponding operating conditions as well as material requirements. Parts 2 and 3 also contain separate specifications for pipes and fittings on general, geometric, mechanical and physical properties as well as marking. Part 5 serves as the basis for assessing the serviceability of the system, consisting of the individual components pipe, fitting and joint. The European standards have been prepared by CEN/TC 155/WG 16 "Plastic piping systems and ducting systems - Systems for hot and cold water applications" (secretariat: SNV, Switzerland) with the active German collaboration of DIN-DVGW-Gemeinschaftsunterausschuss NA 119-07-11 AA "Rohre und Rohrverbindungen aus Kunststoff innerhalb von Gebäuden" (DIN-DVGW Joint Working Committee "Plastic pipes and fittings inside buildings") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
