This International Standard specifies a test method for the determination of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in an aqueous extract of pulp, paper and board. Although it was developed for paper and board intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, it is applicable to all kinds of pulp, paper and board. The working range of the test method for acetylation is between 0,05 mg/kg to 0,5 mg/kg. The International Standard (EN ISO 15320:2011) has been prepared in CEN/TC 172 "Pulp, paper and board". The secretariat is held by the Paper, Board and Pulp Standards Committee (NPa). The decision-making committee within CEN/TC 172 is WG 3 "Analytical methods for the assessment of paper and board in contact with foodstuffs" under the chairmanship of Austria. Representatives from the national mirror committee NA 074-02-01 AA "Chemisch-technische Prüfverfahren für Papier, Pappe, Faserstoff und Chemiezellstoff" ("Chemical- technological test methods for paper, board, pulps and chemical pulp") contributed significantly to the preparation of this International Standard.
