This part of ISO 15027 specifies performance and safety requirements for constant wear immersion suits for work and leisure activities to protect the body of a user against the effects of cold water immersion, such as cold shock and hypothermia. It is applicable for dry and wet constant wear immersion suits. Abandonment suits are not covered by this part of ISO 15027. Requirements for abandonment suits are given in ISO 15027-2:2012. Test methods for immersion suits are given in ISO 15027-3:2012. This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 15027-1:2002-06 as follows: a) clause "Terms and definitions" has been supplemented by "Underclothing"; b) clause "Terms and definitions" has been supplemented by "Cold shock"; c) requirements for buddy lines have been revised; d) requirements regarding conspicuity have been revised; e) clause 6 "Information supplied by the manufacturer" has been added; f) consumer information label has been revised; g) the subclauses have been rearranged; h) requirements for thermal protection in water have been revised. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 112-04-04 AA "Wasserrettungs- und Sicherheitsmittel" ("Lifesaving in water and safety equipment") at DIN.
