Overview

This International Standard specifies a method of instrumented Charpy V-notch pendulum impact testing on metallic materials and the requirements concerning the measurement and recording equipment. With respect to the Charpy pendulum impact test described in ISO 148-1, this test provides further information on the fracture behaviour of the product under impact testing conditions. This document (EN ISO 14556:2015) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164 "Mechanical testing of metals", Subcommittee SC 4 "Hardness testing" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) and adopted by ECISS/TC 101 "Test methods for steel (other than chemical analysis)" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) in accordance with the Vienna Agreement. The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-01-41 AA "Schlagzähigkeitsprüfung für Metalle" ("Impact testing of metals") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
