This standard provides guidelines and defines procedures for assisting the customer and supplier to reach agreements on disputed measurement uncertainty statements regulated in accordance with ISO 14253-1. This shall avoid costly and time-consuming disputes. A flow diagram shows possibilities for solving disagreements regarding a stated measurement uncertainty. Furthermore, a sequential procedure for evaluating and reaching agreement on the following components of the uncertainty budgeting process: measuring task (specification operator), uncertainty model, list of uncertainty contributors/components, possible corrections, magnitude of uncertainty contributors, correlation between contributors and k-value/level of confidence. An annex gives relations to the GPS matrix model. With respect to the previous document DIN ISO/TS 14253-3:2008, all terms and definitions in clause 3 have been replaced by references to International Standards and documents and the Technical Specification (TS) status has been changed to that of a full standard. The underlying International Standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 213/WG 4 "Uncertainty of measurement and decision rules". On the European level, this standard is under the responsibility of CEN/TC 290 "Dimensional and geometrical product specification and verification", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. Regarding the German collaboration, the responsible committee is NA 152-03-02 AA "CEN/ISO Geometrische Produktspezifikation und -prüfung" ("CEN/ISO Dimensional and geometrical product specification and verification") at NATG.
This document replaces DIN ISO/TS 14253-3:2008-05 .
