This part of EN ISO 13934 specifies a procedure for the determination of the maximum tensile force of textile fabrics known as the grab test. Part 1 of EN ISO 13934-1 describes the method known as the strip test. For informative references see Annex D. The method is mainly applicable to woven textile fabrics including fabrics which exhibit stretch characteristics imparted by the presence of an elastomeric fibre and mechanical or chemical treatment. The method can also be applicable to fabrics produced by other techniques. The method is usually not applicable to geotextiles, nonwovens, coated fabrics, textile-glass woven fabrics, and fabrics made from carbon fibres or polyolefin tape yarns. The method specifies the determination of the maximum tensile force of test specimens in equilibrium with the standard atmosphere for testing and of test specimens in the wet state. The method is restricted to the use of constant-rate-of-extension (CRE) testing machines. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 "Textiles and textile products" the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German standardizing body is Working Committee NA 062-05-21 AA "Physikalisch-technologische Prüfverfahren für Textilien" ("Physical and technological test methods for textiles") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 13934-2:1999-04 .
