The standard specifies performance requirements for battery powered pumps used for person-related sampling of chemical and biological agents in workplace air. It also specifies test methods in order to determine the performance characteristics of such pumps under prescribed laboratory conditions. The standard is applicable to battery powered pumps, preferably with flow-controlled pumps, having a nominal volume flow rate above 10 ml per minute, as used with combinations of sampler and collection substrate for sampling of gases, vapours, dusts, fumes, mists and fibres. The standard replaces the previous European Standards DIN EN 1232 and DIN EN 12919. The standard has been prepared in accordance with the Vienna Agreement by ISO/TC 146/SC 2/WG 9 "Sampling pump performance" in collaboration with CEN/TC 137 "Assessment of workplace exposure to chemical and biological agents" (both secretariats: DIN). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 095-03-01 AA "Messstrategien und Anforderungen an Messverfahren" ("Measurement strategies and requirements for test methods") of NASG.
