The International Standard contains quality levels of imperfections in laser-arc hybrid welded joints for all types of steel, nickel and its alloys. Three quality levels are given in order to permit application for a wide range of welded fabrication. They are designated by B, C and D. Quality level B corresponds to the highest requirement on the finished weld. The quality levels refer to production quality and not to the fitness-for-purpose of the product manufactured. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 44/SC 10 "Unification of requirements in the field of metal welding", in collaboration with CEN/TC 121 "Welding", the secretariats of which are held by DIN (Germany). The responsible German standardization committee is DIN/DVS Joint committee NA 092-00-21 AA "Laserstrahlschweißen und verwandte Verfahren (DVS AG V 9.2)" ("Laser beam welding and allied processes (DVS AG V 9.2)").
