Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called "presumption of conformity"). DIN EN ISO 12759:2015 establishes a classification of fan efficiency for all fan types driven by motors with an electrical input power range from 0,125 kW to 500 kW. This International Standard is applicable to bare shaft and driven fans, as well as fans integrated into products. Fans integrated into products are measured as stand-alone fans. This International Standard is not applicable to: - fans for smoke and emergency smoke extraction; - fans for industrial processes; - fans for automotive application, trains and planes; - fans for potentially explosive atmospheres; - box fans, powered roof ventilators and air curtains; - jet fans for use in car parks and tunnel ventilation. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 12759:2015, which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 117 "Fans" in collaboration with CEN/TC 156 "Ventilation of Buildings" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation were represented by Working Committee NA 060-09-11 AA "Ventilatoren (SpA ISO/TC 117 und CEN/TC 156/WG 17)" ("Fans (mirror committee of ISO/TC 117 and CEN/TC 156/WG 17)") of the Technical Section "Allgemeine Lufttechnik" ("General ventilation technology") at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of manufacturers and users of air filters, and of research, development and testing institutes contributed to this standard.
