It is applicable to uncoated steel reinforcement and to organic-coated steel reinforcement. This International Standard applies to steel embeddd in atmospherically exposed, buried, immersed and tidal elements of buildings or structures. This document EN ISO 12696:2012 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 219 "Cathodic protection", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom) and has been adopted within the framework of the Vienna Agreement by ISO/TC 156 "Corrosion of metals and alloys", the secretariat of which is held by SAC (People's Republic of China). The responsible German committee is NA 062-01-71 AA "Korrosion und Korrosionsschutz" ("Corrosion and corrosion protection") of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP).
